Frequently Asked Questions

Q: WHO ARE YOU?

A: My name is Alicia, and my love for painting nails started back in 2010. Since then, my passion has grown and now I have opened a small online store to sell products that I have handmade in Ottawa, Canada. I design and cut all of the stencils in my home office! Follow me on Instagram to see photos & videos from behind the scenes.

Q: WHAT ARE YOUR SHIPPING RATES AND TIMES?

A: I ship all orders within 1-3 business days (Usually in less than a few hours, but sometimes life happens and I need an extra day to get it out, you know what I mean? haha). You will not get an email notification or tracking number when it ships.

All orders are shipped through Canada Post letter mail to keep shipping costs low.

Q: WHAT ARE THE STENCILS MADE OF?

A: All of my stencils are created with high quality vinyl (specifically Avery HP-700 High Performance Matte Black). This means it will stick onto your nail very well and will prevent the polish from leaking underneath the vinyl while you are creating your masterpiece. If you would like to be even more protected from leakage, try applying the polish with a makeup sponge instead of with the brush that comes with the bottle.

Q: HOW LONG DO YOU WAIT FOR YOUR POLISH TO DRY BEFORE APPLYING THE STENCIL?

A: Until the polish is COMPLETELY dry. I use a quick dry top coat (my fav is Seche Vive) to speed up this process, so it usually only takes ~15 minutes to dry completely. I like to test my polish to see if it's ready by lightly tapping the nail with some tweezers - if the tweezers leave a dent, the polish isn't dry enough.

Q: WHEN I REMOVE THE STENCIL, MY BASE POLISH PEELS OFF TOO. WHY?

A: There could be a few reasons for this:

Your base polish might not be dry enough to start. Please make sure your base polish is fully dry before applying the stencil.

The polish has dried on top of the stencil for too long. The stencil should be removed immediately after you apply the polish on top. If the polish starts to dry, it makes your base layer slightly wet again (so weird!) and then it will peel off.

Q: WHY DO YOU APPLY THE POLISH OVER THE STENCIL WITH A SPONGE INSTEAD OF WITH THE BRUSH?

A: The sponge provides an even and thin application, so the polish is evenly applied over the stencil and does not pool in the small details of the stencil. If the polish pools, it could seep under the stencil more easily, catch on the stencil when being removed and smudge, and/or could dry bumpy, all of which could ruin the design.

You can see in this gif (https://i.imgur.com/S6g5SK4.gifv) how on the brush application, I have to move the brush around in a few directions to fill all of the stencil design, and it does leak at the top and sides. The sponge version is more crisp.

Q: ARE THE STENCILS REUSABLE?

A: I personally do not reuse the stencils because I clip the sides of them with scissors to fit the curve of my nail better. I have seen that some people will reuse them once or twice by placing them on a flat piece of plastic and allowing the polish to dry before using them again. Most of the stencil sheets come with enough stencils for multiple manis, so reusing them isn't really necessary.
